Uber Obvious
You always need a secure way to get from place to place. You also always need a designated driver for those nights out. What's a girl to do?
Solution?
Uber.
Uber is a transportation company that you can use on call to take you, or your friends, anywhere you need to go(within a reasonable distance). Truly, it is an elevated taxi service. You use Uber through a phone app where you can order a ride to pick you up, you select which kind of vehicle, and then pay by the minute. They have some seriously nice cars: Lincoln town cars, Escalades, and Mercedes for premiere members. The drivers also open the doors for you :). Personal drivers are not just for celebrities anymore!
Why it's smart:
Ordering a cab can take over 45 minutes and hailing one down is not always an option in residential areas. Furthermore, if you're with a group of friends you would have to split up if the number exceeds more than four. Uber is wired to your credit card, so if you do not have any cash on you there is no need to worry.
Check out Uber and see if it's available in your area!

smudge off
I'll be honest, I do not bother with most mascara.
In the summer it just flakes and smudges all the time. So, I tube my lashes!
Tubing is when the mascara forms around your lashes, kind of like a mold.
The formula will only come off with hot water and pressure combined. So, when I am walking to work or randomly shed a tear, I am not worried about my mascara!
Blinc - one of the original tubing mascara companies, offers a variety of colors including purple and blue. I use dark brown, given my fair complexition.
Tubing mascaras typically can cost a bit extra, but are worth the cost.
Watch an informational video:
Tubing mascara are available at all major departments stores and Sephora.
Tell me what you think!

Nautical and Nice
I love a good nautical style. Here's how to nail the look.
The look:
Essentially, the nautical look is a celebration of the maritime world.
This means ships, sea, and navigation. The style is especially popular along
the North-Eastern Cape and was inspired by the British. In America, it was most
likely a reflection of the whaling and fishing lifestyle that bloomed there (thank goodness the whaling is over!).
Popular Features:
Chanel Resort 2010
Wildfox Couture
My Take:
featuring: J.Crew Factory Sweater, J.Crew Toothpick Jean, Lulu's Wedges, Tory Burch Tote,
J C Penny Watch

Popular Features:
- Navy and White Stripes: Navy is the new black. Vogue attributes the look to old uniforms and then Venetian gondolier style. It was largely pioneered by Coco Chanel. Read some more of the striped history here. A dash of red is okay too, especially around the fourth of July!
- Anchors: The anchor is, of course, a popular element of sea fare (also one of the first Christian symbols in existence). Anchors have taken a symbol turn to mean rooted and strong.
- Ocean-Inspired Prints: Anything from sailboats to crustaceans is a staple of a nautical wardrobe. These are a fun way to celebrate summer. Take a look at Lilly Pulitzer prints and the Tuckernuck Summer Catalog.
Pieces to Invest In:
- Wedges
- Blue & White Stripes (obviously)
- White Jeans
- Printed Sweaters
- Pearls (the jewel of the sea)
