Tassel Time

On my radar: tassels!

The tassel is a fun, flirty, dynamic look for summer. Whether it's beaded or fabric, the tassel makes a great addition to your jewelry, handbags, shoes, and clothing!

These are my favorite J.Crew beaded tassel earrings!

The transition from spring into summer is a magical time.

People on the streets become golden, ice cream melts, air conditioning becomes God's greatest invention, and the night becomes electric.

During this time I encourage everyone to wear "happy colors". Happy colors range from pastels to moody brights and are generally expressed by the flora of the season. May was peony season - my favorite. In honor, I have selected a pink palette!

Note: Flowerbomb is one of my favorite perfumes!

Toning Technology

Hi Friends!

Last Wednesday I celebrated my three year anniversary with my boyfriend! Amusingly enough, we both bought Fitbits for one another. Now I had heard about this trendy health-based technology, but had never actually used one...

This Fitbit Flex is awesome!  Fitbit works with an app you install on your phone and records your daily physical activity. Fitbit will track the number of steps you have taken during the day and the amount of calories you burn. You can also set it up so the Fitbit records your daily exercise, water and food intake, as well as sleep. This data can then be transferred to your computer for a long term monitoring of your health!

The Fitbit pack I purchased from Costco also gave me different colored bands, so I can accessorize as I please. Tory Burch has also made a few designs (hint graduation gift!).

I have always had trouble sleeping, and Fitbit has confirmed this by tracking how restless I am through the night! Nifty!

Anyways, for a person who is stepping up her exercise game this has been a wonderful gift!

House of DVF

Dear Friends and Family,

I recently made it to the second round of casting for the second season of House of DVF! I was so in shock, that I had not actually considered passing the first round. They emailed me back asking for a video where I had to answer twelve questions while demonstrating my personal style.

I am incredibly nervous...my video would not download on their document. Hopefully they will accept my email submission. Please pray for me, the other entries on Youtube are FIERCE.

Here is the result!

New Year: New Me

Hello Lovely Readers,

Happy New Year! I hope every one of you has a resolution, here's mine: to lose fifteen pounds before graduation (by exercising regularly).

For many people, exercising is not a challenge. I am not one of those people. In fact, I am one of the laziest people I've ever met. This is a shame because I am so fortunate to have a perfectly functional body.

It is time for me to take exercising seriously. I am getting older, my metabolism is slowing down, and my excess weight will start hurting my body. While I have always been overweight, I have not always been so inactive!

Why should I care? I have depression - which is exacerbated by winter. Exercise is one of the best treatments available for depression because of the release of endorphin and stress - also promotion positive body image.

For those of you who also need some motivation: here are some benefits of exercise according to the Mayo Clinic.

What helps me: cute work out clothes. This may seem shallow - but I want to look as good as possible while exercising because I'm self conscious enough as is. Being one of the larger people at the college gym is hard - I feel pathetic with my red face and sweat. The already physically fit people make me feel bad about my own image instead of inspiring me to be healthy. No more! I, too, shall feel confident come bikini season!

I am asking for some support. Please send me some workouts you enjoy or invite me to work out with you! Also, allow me to do the same!

Some work out looks I love:

(Note: I do not endorse Nike because I do not agree with their ethics when is comes to treatment of their factory workers. However, I certainly will not try to enforce my perspective on those who do!)

Let's get physical

The little things.

The new semester is about to start!

It is unfathomable that I have only one semester left before graduating. I am proud to say I made Dean's List last semester, and hope to blow this last one out of the water!

Getting back in the mood for school can be a hard transition after break. What do I suggest? Office supplies shopping.

Even the smallest accessory can make school work that much more enjoyable.

Brands to investigate:

- Kate Spade
- Jonathan Adler
- Paper Source
- Sugar Paper
- Amanda Catherine Designs

Some things I have my eye on:

What office supply brands are your favorites? I am always on the look out!

Note

I'm very sorry for not posting with the optimum frequency! Working almost full-time has really taken away from my fun leisure activities.

I plan to be back on track when the semester starts up again and I return to Rhodes.

Happy New year!

Time Out!

If there is one accessory I cannot function without, it's a watch.

Checking the time is a nervous function of human beings. However, using your phone to check the time is not always appropriate in all situations (class!). So, to avoid the terrible 21st century habit, I suggest investing in a watch.

Growing up, Baby-G watches were the hottest accessory. While Baby-G's can do some incredibly cool things, it made it very difficult for me to switch to an analogue watch (which I wish I had done sooner). Analogue watches are more mature, and can truly make a statement.

My most recent investment (now that I'm making money again):

I love my new watch! I think the bright blue is quite lovely and lets my watch double as a bracelet. I previously owned a Marc by Marc Jacob watch and have never been disappointed with the quality (sadly, I lost it).

In all my years of having watches I have to say the most important decision rests in choosing the strap. I have had metal, silicon, ceramic, and leather watches and must stand by my decision to get a metal band this time around. While leather is my favorite look, it just cannot be worn too frequently because of water and marking. The sweat from your wrists warps the leather and the small bit of water that gets on your watch from washing your hands changes the quality. Silicon, while sometimes more comfortable, can easily change color - excluding black. Ceramic watches are usually covered in a layer of paint - which begins to chip away after time. Having a stainless steel band allows one to fully enjoy the abilities of a water resistant watch and not worry about color.

Note: depending on how much money you are willing to spend, the metal may turn. See if a band is made of stainless steel or a finer metal.

Over the past few years the "stack" as become a popular trend, usually involving an over-sized face watch and some bangles. The look is actually very cute and can help make a large watch look less awkward.
